In the first phase, Xindia Steels plans to set up iron ore pelletization plant with a capacity of 0.8 Million Tons per annum.
The huge demand for iron ore pellets in India and overseas is slated to increase in the coming years. By the year 2020 India ’s production of steel is expected to touch 200 Million Tons from the current level of approximately 45 Million Tons. This increase in steel production will put a huge strain on the iron ore supplies situation. It is imperative that the fines generated in the mining of iron ore be utilized for the production of steel. The Indian steel industry which predominantly uses expensive lump ore will move towards usage of sintered ore and pellets. It has been proven that the use of pellets, results in substantially higher efficiencies in the blast furnace productivity.
Xinxing’s pelletizing technology (upto 3.0 MTPA) is considered among the best in the world, as it results in superior quality of pellets at lower costs of production. The pellets produced in Xindia plant will be mostly sold domestically and will also be exported to markets in China , Japan and Korea .
In the second phase it is envisaged to ramp up the production to 6.0 MTPA of BF and DR grade pellets. China Minmetals Ltd, being is one of the world’s largest traders in raw materials and steel gives Xindia a unique advantage by means of access to raw materials and access to markets. |
